Mix and Match brakes???
Hey guys, well, I bought a Civic Ex a few months ago.
I've installed the basics, CAI, exhast, springs, rims.
well, story goes...
I was at a late night meet with my friends and we all were talking about going to the canyons. For those of you in the Valley of SoCal, Stunt Road/Tuna Canyon. Well, we took the drive and it being not the first time of me being there, was the same ole fun. When I got to the bottom, my breaks were so damn hot that they were glowing RED and smoking up like a mother f***er. So we rested for about a half an hour or so
Well the first thing i did when i got home was research Aftermarket break kits (Brembo and such) and had not much luck. I talked to a friend and he suggested mixing and matching stock brake parts from other Honda/Acura cars and creating/customizing my own break kit.
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which cars would be great to pick from. I'm not expecting to just throw the stuff in without any modification, so i'm up for a challenge and anything that i would need to do. any ideas???
and are there any aftermarket or higher performance clutches and flywheels that will fit my car?

That link should help. I didn't go through every link on there because I have an SI, but it should definitely help. There are even some links for aftermarket brakes on there too. Hope it helps.

Coo, the list helps. But now i'm thinking about changing everything from caliper to rotors. One link was perfect and I will be puchasing rotors already, but now it's coming to calipers, I would love to have bigger ones, mainly for the front. Just need to kno which cars should i recommendedly scavange up from.

Just upgrade your pads and fluids to something that works for street/auto-x/road course and you will be fine. Cobalt Gt Sports should be more than adequate.

I think you're going to need a much bigger rotor and pad, given that your stock rotors clearly don't have the heat capacity. If you are interested, PM me, I make OEM Honda brakes kits. If you are looking for like Type-R brakes, or the S2000 ones or 4 piston RL brakes, I can hook you up. Shoot me a message.
aww i wish i could shoot u a message, but i'm only in Trial Newb status. but defnitely interested in your kits. what's the best kit you would recommend for a 2008 Civic EX (18" rims).
u can contact me via Email or aim or msn, whichever.
