Sometimes when I start my car it doesnt just start up, it starts but its like a delay. You can obviously hear somethings up.

Its a 92 civic dx with 89 original miles on the motor. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap, IGNITER(just today).......

My next thing would be the coil???? I mean sometimes it starts up right away but others its like a prolonged start.

Also sometimes my temp guage fluctuates up and down, I think my thermo is getting stuck. I have recently bought a new one and will install tomorrow, just wanted some of your professional opinions.

Other than that the car runs fine. Everything seems to be in great condition. I just need to figure out why sometimes it ONLY overheats in IDLE, and why sometimes the start of the car is prolonged.

 

the over heating is probably the thermo. as for the prolonged start it could be your main relay. if it does it when the car is still hot that is probably the reason (the relay gets hot as you are driving) what happens is with enough heat over time 1 or more solider points crack and after driving it will seperate. pull it out (drivers kick panel area) pull the cover off and look for a small ring around 1 of the solider points. if there is one just put a drop of solider on it, if not good luck

 

could it be anything else?
