Default 93 prelude overheating

93 prelude with the 2.3 the car has never gone past the 1/2 way mark on the temp. guage but the other night it went upto 3/4 and i parked the car and let it sit. wasn't sure where to start. it has not overheated since and cannot get it to even letting it ilde for awhile and driving it, it now appears to be fine but the fans won't come on and i tried jumping the front fan sensor and it did nothing then i jumped the back one and both fans came on, but they will not come on when the car is running so far that i can tell.
any ideas ?

I dont know about the fans, but I use water wetter by redline,w/ just water in the summer and it rocks,my lude never gets hot.It reduces temps by as much as 15 degrees, which is significant on a day that reaches 110.
