Guess what.....I'M FINALLY BOOSTED!
Ahhhh, yes, it's true guys. After a short 3 1/2 week installation, my 98 Integra LS has a working DRAG gen III kit strapped on. This was my first turbo installation, and was actually the first thing I've done to my car myself, other than a CAI a year back. Doing it myself rather than paying a shop was DEFINITLY worth it, even though it swallowed up a good chunk of my afternoons for almost a month. I've learned so much about my car and cars in general that will benefit me in the long run.
What basically delayed me the most was my total lack of knowledge. I just didn't know about all the details that were involved. I ran to auto parts or hardware stores constantly, picking up tools, parts, and other things i didn't have. My advice for other beginners is have a very complete tool kit around.
I installed it to the point of the downpipe and am currently getting CDE motorsports to install a Carsound cat and Thermal exhaust. You guys weren't kidding that open downpipe is really friggin loud! I haven't tested the performance out yet, since I only drove it over to the shop. I stopped every 5 miles to check for screw-ups, but everything is holding up!
My setup is now as follows:
- DRAG gen III kit with 'B' trim turbo
- Tial W/G
- 3" Carsound Cat
- 3" Thermal R&D exhaust
- Autometer bezel with boost and A/F gauges
- Stock clutch, we'll see how long that holds up.
I want to thank you guys so much for your generosity in knowledge. Specifically, DiRep972, SpeedPhreak, Flamenco, Arturbo, JeremyG2teg, SuperDrag, Dunreit, CRVMonsteR, Inspyral, Degradated, DragGenIII, Damonboost, Wil from Exospeed, and Dave from DRAG answered my almost endless lists of questions.
I'll post some pics and update with how it drives under boost later on.

Very cool. I did my install myself as well, with help of a few friends. It is much better to know how to do it yourself that way if anything goes wrong you know where to look and what to do.
whats your fuel set up? Do you have anything for knock detection? any boost retard?

My fuel setup is what DRAG gave me; the secondary inline fuel pump and a Vortec FMU w/ a 12:1 disk, I believe. I don't have any boost retard or knock detection systems. Can't wait to check the dyno numbers!
Hey, I just got my car back from CDE motorsports, and got a chance to test the car out for the first time. It's fast. Very fast. And loud. The 3" thermal and carsound cat make for a loud exhuast note, though it's a nice, mellow and very deep tone.
Driving around, the tires break free near redline in 1st. My clutch is stock and has no chance in holding if i shift at redline and return to flooring the throttle. But still with the slipping clutch, 80 comes in no time! I love it!
Anyone got a suggestion to quiet this exhaust down a bit? I can live with it now, but I can see it getting irritating eventually.

Tell me every single part you bought seperatly and every tool you used. I need to know as I plan on doing the same.
How did you put in the oil return line? Did you weld or epoxy?
Ive heard there is some block milling/filing involved, what did you do?

OK, i've got a few concerns now after driving it for a day:
-I'm hearing either backfire or detonation: For the first, say, 10 min. of driving I hear nothing out of the ordinary, but after a bit i'll hear an audible "pop" from my car. I can't tell exactly where it's coming from. Let's say I'm drving along part throttle and then release the gas to coast for a bit. As soon as I touch the gas again, I always here "pop". It's not a metallic, "marbles in a can" sound, though. Help! What is this?
-Also, I'm running on a wastegate that vents out in the engine bay, and after some driving I was getting a headache and a bit dizzy. This is from the exhaust coming in the car from the w/g right? or could it be a leak? Anyone with an open-atmosphere dumppipe, please respond.
TIA

I have my Tial WG duping into the air. But I put a custom metal flex pipe on it and routed it down to the oil pan area so fumes go under the car.

That's teh first time I've heard of ventilation with the wastegate adn stuff.
Thanks for bringing it up. I'll be careful when I put on my turbo someday...
