Cylinder Position sensor
How would you go about replacing a cylinder position sensor? My GSR wont rev pas 3500K and I thing this is the culprit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Thanks
the cylinder position sensor is located in your distributor. I haven't heard of the sensors being sold separately but anyone chime in if i'm wrong. If your sensor is bad my recommendation is to get a new distributor.
i would go with what 408RSTeg said, just replace the distributor, i had the same problem and had to buy a new one.. hope my input helps. and yes i did tried looking to parts to rebuilt it.. but i couldnt find none.. so i took the easy route.
about the rev part i dont think it has to do with the cps. well never happened to me. i could be wrong.

Yo dude. I am pretty sure it is not the Cyl. pos. sensor. I recently rebuild my H22/F22 and when I put in the Kaizenspeed balance shaft eliminator kit, they gave me this crazy space that took off the gear that runs the balance shafts (near the timing belt). This caused my car to not run above 3500 rpm and run like sheit.
Bottom Line, since your car is a 96 and therefore OBD II you probably have something on the Crankshaft that is awry.
(BTW, I have been running without a CYP sensor for a while now and it still hits 7 grand and 10lbs of boost. )
