90 si cluster, will it work in 88 dx
im tryin to help out my brother,,,we got a 90 si cluster and was wondering if it will work properly in a 88 dx,,all the plugs seem to be the same,,,,just need to be sure,,,
It would work but its not plug and play. You would have to depin the plugs and change some wires around. Also, the 88-89 cluster is a little more square shaped. The 90-91 is more rounded and so you would need the other bezel.
I would recommend just getting the right cluster for the car.

Have you tried the SEARCH optionn yet? Should be info there on cluster swaps there. It will require some rewiring and the the proper cluster cover to go with the cluster and the metal mounting brackets that go with the year of the cluster.. A change in the shape of the cluster was made in 1990 so 88 and 89 are the same shape , as are the 90-91 models. There were two different cluster manufacturers and the wiring IS different between the two. Probably not, but if you had the plugs from the "new" cluster, you could rewire yours to make it work. Plug and play may work in a few cases but I've never been so lucky. Good luck! Use SEARCH, as many say, it is your friend and can answer mqany questions that you may have.
