Default ls/vtec oil leak

I have an oil leak on my ls vtec I am not sure what it is from here are some pics if anyone could help me. I think that my cam seal is fine because seems like not much crap around the cam seal more just on the vtec solenoid. Then there is all that oil on the tranny. the one pic is a pic of where the tranny and block and head are and seems like stuff is accumulating there. Maybe the distributor o ring? if so how would I check to see if coming from there? Not leaking from the valve cover either. I was thinking either head gasket even though my oil is not milky at all or something else. Hoping not the head gasket! :0

I am losing a lil bit of coolant and seems like a decent amount of oil.

any help thanks guys

it could be dizzy o ring or vtec solenoid seal.. and check your head gasket for the coolant lose. perform a leak down test.

I had that problem on my 98 GSR as well. I went to Honda and got a new solenoid gasket $22 but that wasn't it. Then I checked the (plastic) plug that is located just behind the V-tech solenoid (on the head) and the rubber o-ring was the problem. I am not quite sure if your LS has that plastic "plug", but my GSR does.
Check if you are indeed are losing coolant, it could be just a loose upper rad hose spraying or worse, the head gasket is gone.
Take out the V-tech solenoid, clean up all the oil crap, drive 1 day or so and open the hood to see where is it really coming out from... because the wind under the hood could move that oil all over the place, and it is hard to locate the "exit wound."

I got that same leak. Just haven't gotten around to really pinpointing where the leak is coming from. When I find out, I'll let you know. In my case, there's no coolant tho.

Sounds good. Funny though cause the coolant loss. The only place I can seem to see the head gasket failing is that side with the tranny cause that is where all the **** is. Doesn't seem like I am losing any power at all though. None of those other things on the tranny side run coolant though right?

Ya, the coolant could only be visible around a head gasket (if it is leaking) on the trany side, water pump and belts should be on the other side. Most of the time the head gasket gets burned in between the pistons, since it is much wider around the edges... White smoke will start exiting your exhaust, but I have never seen a coolant leak on and around the block of the engine/trany. Maybe top of the rad has a small hole and it gets sprayed on to the trany...just a thought/idea. See if that helps. Keep investigating the open wound. Don't give up, makes it more fun and makes you feel good when you find the fix.
