Default Just finished installing the Comptech Icebox!!

I used my existing short ram pipe with the icebox and k&n E-2427 filter. The install was pretty easy took about 1.5hrs. I had to cut my short ram pipe to make it fit properly but after that it went in nicely. The k&n fit pretty good into the icebox however it does not seal as solid as the stock filter but i was happy with the overall seal. The only reason the the k&n wouldn't seal perfectly is because of the design of the icebox(kinda cheap) . The icebox has some little gaps where the intake arm meets the box on either side of the filter. As far as performance goes, this thing is great!!! I went for a test drive last night and it pulls pretty good on low end, around 4000rpm it can hear a growl that i never heard before with the short ram, however when vtec kicks in @6000rpm it wasn't as loud as the short ram. So then i took the car onto the hwy and i felt gains on high end also but i was most impressed the low end gains! Overall the icebox is a good buy as long as you modify your existing short ram intake

What shortram intake did you use? I don't want to buy the comptech shortram. I know comptech products are $$$ but, they want too much for a short ram intake. Keeping the stock hose and getting a K&N filter should work along with the "icebox" right?

Thanks for the review!

i had some generic cheap *** intake arm by ractive, it looked like the dc sports arm without the DAC sticker, because the K&N E-2427 filter is angled it makes things easier, you might be able to get away without cutting the arm at all. Depends on what type of intake you have right now. don't buy the comptech arm, it a waste of $$$ IMO.

I forgot to add, if you remove the passenger side front bumper lens, the icebox pipe could have a ram air effect as it is facing the front bumber right behind the conrner lens

What you feel/hear is the IAB opening up....

VTEC xrossover is at 3750 and IAB opens at 5800....

Don't believe me.. consult the Service manual

Can't wait till my FAQ is public..

You sure about that? In all my years I've only heard 4400 for B18C1's..

There's no way it's 3750, if that were so then that would mean I would be cruising in VTEC on the highway ALL the time, and I'm pretty sure that the 36mpg that I've gotten in the past would not be possible if that were true. Mid-4000's sounds more like it.

The icebox is made to be used with its own short ram or with the stock intake, right? Now, K&N makes replacement filters for the stock intake. Shouldn't the filter be the exact size as the oem filter? So it should fit perfectly? And what it the difference between the E-2427 and the HP-1004?
