Default Question for the H22 owners.

Does your H22 feel kind of gutless in the lower rpms, (1-4.5k)? Mine is an auto ss and I know how Honda autos are, but I just would like to know how your stock engines feel. My VTEC kicks really hard but if I don't shift at redline then it drops below VTEC and feels gutless again.

Stats: Auto SS, 136k, engine sounds good, burns only maybe 1 qt per 3k miles. I don't know how long it has been since the plugs, wires, cap and rotor have been replaced, but everything looks fine. I run 91 octane since it's hard to find anything higher here. I have ran fuel injector cleaner also.

Just want to know what experiences you guys have had with your H22s.

*edit* I don't know how long it's been on the tune up since I just bought it about 4 months ago.

Well no, my h22 runs fine, and dandy. It could use more low end power say from 1-3k, but thats only for launching.

Mines of course is a manual.

But sluggish, nah, not mine.

yeah, i think h22's are plenty peppy, only about 1-3k while the tires catch is a bit slow reacting.. but anything above that and its nice. I DD between 1-2500 RPM and its a steady ride. (dont wanna wake up the neighbors w/ my lovely 3" N1)

Not at all. Mine feels really peppy actually. I love going through the gears fast just using my downlow power.

Well it looks like I may be in need of a tune-up. Thanks for the responses guys.

Depends what your used to, honestly I went from an H23 to a JDM H22 in my lude, and I can tell the low end torque isn't quite there! I am also running with my IAB's open all the time, so that may contribute to my problem.

Yea if I pull the vacuum line off the IABs I can definitely notice a drop in bottom end on my H23A1, so I would assume it would be even worse on a stock H22.
