Call the DMV. Tell them the number under the engine code. They'll tell you good or bad.

most dmv's wont do this
you need to physically bring the motor in because if its stolen
they will impound it.

although each dmv is diffrent.

who cares you didnt steal it, just buy it and put it in your car. stop being a ***** about it and just get the dam motor, and im guessing if your worried about it being stolen the price must be really cheap(another reason to get it)

What a little bitch.

The reason cars get stolen so often these days, is because people like you buy the parts from them no questions asked.

Kill the demand, and make it less profitable for the theives, and there will be less cars stolen.. You or one of your friends WILL be a victim at some point.

EXCATELY, if you feel that way about purchasing stolen goods, fine, we can't do anything about that, but DO NOT tell others to purchase stolen parts.. i know there's a few thousand members here would appreciate it. like martini and fnky said, it's people like you that the thieves count on to stay in business.. thanks.

ef civic, you can contact the police department and have them run the block # to see if it comes up stolen or not.. if it does be prepared to tell them everything you know about the seller tho..

You should care. Possession of Stolen property is a crime.
Criminal offense means you go to jail. They made this a law for a reason.

If I found out somebody is in possession of Stolen property, I would tell that guy to report it to the police or I will. Its bad enough that honda civics(specially Si), accords and integras are one cars being stolen the most. That is why these cars are a little higher to insure. Who pays the insurance, people like me.

If thieves and those who support them (people who buy stolen parts) are making everybody elses life miserable, then I will do my share to make it hard for them to survive the trade and do my best to help the authorities get them locked up.

Stealing is wrong.

alright, everyone get off their pedistal. the best way to not get ur car stolen is move to a small town where u dont even have to worry about anyone breaking into ur car. if u live in a big town and drive a modded honda ur just askin for it to get stolen. small towns r good.

Yeah if its worth it to goto jail just to get a damn part for your car, this is to anyone or everyone, then be stupid enough to go for it. What comes around goes around thats how this world works. Just to front you got something new cause somebody is impatient and cant work and do it the regular way and WORK. I just hate ******* thieves and ******* liars. I havent even had anything stolen yet but i can imagine how shitty it must feel.

ask me if i care what any of you think, your dam right i would buy a 2nd gen b16 for 700-1000 less if it was stolen, i dont know its stolen so its not my problem, dont know what that guy is talking about with EMISSIONS but in MD they dont have that. any of you guys on here would buy a motor for a 1000 less even if you did think the motor was stolen.

But what if you get pulled over or any other case with law enforcement , and they decide to be a dick and check everything on your car. Well when he runs the vin# on the block and it comes back stolen, they confiscate your car and your walking home. On top of that your out 700-1000 dollars and only if theyre nice you can get your car back without the motor. That's why you don't buy stolen property especially something that can be tracked as easily as a motor. But it's not my money or car so do what you like, and don't be pissed if your car gets stolen, it's called bad karma.

well i dont know about the rest of the states but in MD cops do not check the vin # on a engine. they might check the cars vin # but thats it. i would be mad if my car got stolen but thats what insurance is for. im just saying i would pay less if i had a chance thats the main issue here. IMO.

jdmimports79, you embarass me because not only are you in MD, but my name is also Steve.

How can you have the rude, careless attitude you do? Do you treat all people with that same negative attitude? If so, don't expect to get far in life. I only fear that one day we'll meet at a local H-T meet and you'll make an *** of yourself.

Sure 99.8% of the time no MD official will ever want to look at your VIN or check your block and/or tranny #s, but there's always that one time... I'd rather have everything legit and pay a few more $ than worry about gettin my car impounded.

Thats what insurance is for???, Thats what insurance is for???

Why the **** do you think comprehensive auto insurance is so ******* high in cost??? Partly because of stupid little things like stolen motors, and arrogant *** holes who buy them!

Sorry for the profanity,......but geeze, what a damned retard!

i think we should give the guy a break. i mean come on, hes bein totally honest. unlike alot of *** kissers on this board. i believe its just the fact that someone will buy stolen property. at the rate our cars get stolen anyways, it drives the theives. hes honest, which takes integrity, most of the posters on here lack.

Your just to afraid to admit that you would not buy stolen property, lets say I have a Type R motor here, im selling a complete drop ot for $4000, I really dont think your going to think twice about where the motor comes from, im not trying to make anybody mad, ALL IM SAYING IS I WOULD SAVE A FEW 100 DOLLARS WHENEVER I COULD. If the motor is stolen thats not my problem I didnt steal it.
