with car in neutral (5spd) i hit the gas quick and the engine shakes and kind of chokes for a second and then revs. if the engine is already in motion and i hit the gas it just revs. seems to be at lower rpms and when warmed up. all new motor mounts and clutch. i don't smell gas either. any advice thanks.

 

Try checking the Throttle position sensor. if you don't have access to a scan tool, take some T-pins and shove them into the back of the connector to make contact with the wires. The sensor should put out ~0.2v at closed throttle and ~4.8v at wide open throttle. good luck.

When was the last basic tune up (plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor)? You also may want to check whether the ignition timing is slightly off.

 

other than new plugs, quite a while...........will check all this weekend.

cool, i'll pick up everything Saturday and take care of it. if it doesn't work i'll post again

 

ok...........replaced dist. cap & rotor, plugs and cables. much much better, still have a slight shaking when first hitting the gas (not at all like before and not missing).

next in line timing, EACV and TPS
