Default Engine Clearence, Weight question, Hood CRX??'s

hey what up everyone. As some of you might know i got my CRX screwed up this week . Anyways the hood is screwed so i wanted to get a new carbon fiber one (i hate the way carbon fiber looks so i will be painting it)

I have a b16 in the rex right now and the hood clears fine but im going to throw a different bottom end on the same head and tranny and mounts. I think its going to be 6mm higher. So would the JDM STYLE hood from fiberimage make the engine clear better?? Also how much does a stock CRX hood weigh, How much does a Carbon fiber hood from fiberimage wiegh? Who here has put a b18c in a crx, what did you have to do to clear it??

It didnt however clear the fluidyne radiator cap, but I think the z10 crossmember makes it sit a hair higher. I just trimmed the the inner skeleton a little with a die grinder.BE CAREFULL when doing this. If i were to do it again I would use a dremel

If i were to do it again I would use a dremel
on a very slow speed setting.

im planning on using the fluidyne and the z10 also on my GE 2.0 bottom end to give you some more info. got any pictures of where you trimmed or more information. it seems like we have very simmular setups . . . DID YOU GET THE FIBERIMAGE SIR STYLE??? OR OEM STYLE??

I dont have pics yet but i had to trim the actual tabs on the bottom of the radiator that usually sit in the factory radiator mounts. The stock ones just protrude through the bottom but since the rad now sits on top of the z10 there is nowhere for it to go unless you were to actally drill holes in the bar itself. my hood is a fiberimages jdm style for the us front end(it humps up in the middle) I had to trim the skeleton just behind the actual latch so it would clear the rad filler and cap, I just cut like a 3-4 in square out. you will see what i'm talking about the first time you try to close the hood. If you are runniong a 1.8 bottom end you will definately need the sir style hood like me. When i had my itr motor I had to shim my hood at all the mounting points with washes to raise it up and i still had to cut a rib out of the hood. If you plan on running a long tube header like a smsp or a hytech, you wont be able to do it with the new hasport mounts becuase they tilt the motor foreward so it makes the collector point up towards the bottom of the car. I learned this the hard way and had to swap back the older ones.
