Some aluminum TIG from the last 2 days...coolant and PS reservoir
This is a '46 Plymouth with some parts from an '06 charger. Engine, tranny, ALL wiring. steering column, dash, pedals, seats, nav, ABS, rear subframe and suspension, brakes, wheels, front cradle...not how I would do it but it's gonna be a neat daily driver. No paint work or exterior stuff sans wheels. So I have been doing some of the fab work on this...finished a dual 2.5" exhaust...all v-bands, came out pretty nice. Wed and today I made a coolant tank w/overflow and today I did the power steering reservoir. It's all 3003 1/8" with 4043 rod. I made the large fitting on the small tank out of 6061 on the lathe. Yay for inverter machines

i dont normally comment on this sort of thing, but thats actually a very cool and well done setup for something simple. I like when people get creative in that respect.

I just use a lot of heat and go pretty fast.
PM me a price and details...

Damn...I gotta put more time into aluminum. That's some top notch aluminum welds there. The lower level AC/DC welders just don't have the capability with aluminum the better machines do. I recently worked with that Miller inverter that's 200 amps and the hertz adjustment makes a HUGE difference.
I love some pretty aluminum welds, and that's some nice stuff right there.

i gotta ask........... where did u get the aluminum deal that the cap will go on at??? and yeah those are some damn sexy welds. any details on what ur machine was set at. ive got a v205 and i still havent got my welds that clean............. the aluminum ur using looks top notch and clean as hell too though so that may have something to do with it.

The caps are just things we sell in our store. We can get all kinds but usually keep these two styles in stock.
Machine was set to just under 180amps, no idea what I was using though...balance was 70 and frequency was 200ish. 17cfh argon.
Thats just regular aluminum sheet from our local supplier. Nothing special and definatly not that clean. These are scraps from a fuel tank I made a while ago.

That frequency adjustment is all the difference in the world I tell you. My PT185 doesn't have it, and there's just no comparison. I welded with that Miller 200amp inverter and that frequency adjustment is impressive.
Gotta upgrade sometime here.

i am tryin to get some setings for the various aluminum im workin with, its seems my "auto" setting on my lincoln really like to be more on the penetration side and not on the "cleaning" side
My PT185 which i could also adjust the hertz also. Tried a Syncrowave 200 and a bit easier to get nice beads out. But then again i need alot more time welding
Very nice work.
Do you have any more pics of this car?
