Anybody know if a glove box from a '94 Civic would/should fit a '93 Civic??

My '93 VX didn't have a glove box so I picked one up off ebay that states it's out of a '94 and the damn thing doesn't seem to work. The little hinges don't line up quite right. The actual box looks right, and physically lines up well but won't bolt on via the hinges.

If you have any ideas please let me know.

After checking the auction, it was out of a '94 Civic. There is no other info. After doing some more searching on some other forums it looks like if the car has dual front air bags then the damn glove box is different! So the box I have must have come out of an car with airbags, ofcourse my VX doesn't have them.

 

The glove box will fit if you modify how it attaches to the bracket. I have a 94 glove box in my 92 VX. The main difference is the 94 95 glove box is shallower and heavier. You have to add spacers at the hinge of the 94 glove box to reach the bracket the 93 box was attached to. Eventually, the new box will adjust itself and you can use it like the old one.

Hmmm, I just bolted it up? I have a 92 and used a 95 box. I can't remember is there a metal bar attached at the bottom. I think so, b/c I think I remember taking the whole thing, maybe that's needed as well to make it fit noramlly. It latches a little wierd but lines up and looks the same as before.

I was beat to it. The above post is correct.

Can you possibly clarify where you added spacers and roughly how big they were? I did notice in one position it looked like if I used longer bolts for the hinges that maybe that would work.

I just put two images of the right side of the glove box hinge. It seems I used rubber grommets and a threaded fastener from a water line - in other words stuff I had in my garage to use as spacers.

As I said, it fits good!

You Sir...We're 100% correct. Luckily the local junkyard had that metal piece out of an airbag equipped car and the whole deal bolted right in.

I only knew from expierence glad it worked out for you, did the same thing in my 92si when the box broke, the non airbag boxes were kind of a weak design with the little plastic tabs on the back
