Default Possible Oil Leak.... Need some help.

I just replaced my radiator because the end tank gave out on me. While I was under the car I noticed quite a bit of oil on the transmission case on the backside of the engine. After a little snooping around, I found that it was almost like a grease like substance, but there was a decent amount of it. There also appears to be some of it that was spun off the axle and ended up on the rear mount.

My oil level has not changed since I did my oil change about 2,000 miles ago. The deposit wasn't there at the time of the oil change either.

Engine is a D16Y7 with a 5 speed transmission.

What could this be from?
Any ways to diagnose it if you dont know what its from?
If you know what its from, what do I need to fix it?

Here are some pics to maybe give a lead to the problem, and to get the thread looked at.

looks like your inner cv/axel boot clamp is leaking. you can just cut the old clamp off and put a new one. or you can pull the axel out repack, and put a new boot on or reuse the old one. you should do it soon, otherwise you'll be needing new axels.

There would be that much stuff coming out of there though?

Plus it smells oily, not like grease.... You could be right. I'd just replace the axle anyway... kill 2 birds with one stone.

Thanks for the input man.

Anyone else?

I was just thinking, could it be the tranny leaking?

looks like your losing oil from somewhere, also the axles is throwing grease, the grease could be from an old axle that was replaced

Could be transmission fluid leaking past the seal -- check whether the transmission oil level is low.

that grease is for sure axle grease from the c/v boot. now make sure its coming from the boot and not an older boot that has been replaced from the past. now just becuase the boot is not torn it can be leaking from an old c/v boot band. now it looks like you have to repack the boot with grease . so its up to you to replace the axle or fix it. you also have an oil leak somewhere

The only thing I dont get is that I am not losing any oil whatsoever. The level has not changed on the dipstick at all. Could it be trans fluid?

That grease hasnt been there before, so I guess I should just replace that axle.

Yeah, check the trans fluid level. And that could leak from numerous areas. But the usual location is the axle seals...
