slack in brake pedal? not another cyclinder!?!?!?!?!?
ok heres the deal- sometime my brake works fine- and sometimes, especially when i ease into the brake it will go down to the floor and i may have to pump it another time to get a good stop.....i have bled the lines several times and it seemd to help but soemtimes it still does this....i'm thinking i have a pin hole-- but i cant find any loss of fluid - the reservoir stays the same and no droppings on my shop floor- so maybe the master cyclinder or the booster? it would be crazy if its the cyclinder cuz my clutch is currently having the same prob- replacing the master and slave cyclinder this week hopefully fxing that prob....... so has anyone else experienced this prob and am i right in assuming the master cyclinder?
my car only has 98k miles on it but it is a 95........... seems when it rains in poors

Wow, if your pedal drops alllll the way to the floor, you have a serious problem. Well first things first, you see no leaks of brake fluid correct? The reservoir never loses fluid? Are you properly purging the brake lines (Starting from the farthest one 'rear right' ? Is the brake fluid clean and clear or is it brown to black? Are your brake pads disc worn to the extreme? I suggest taking a look at the discs/pads first then inspect your brake line system all the way to the master cylinder. But from the information you have posted, I believe you may be improperly bleeding the brake and clutch system since both are performing the same. Keep us posted on what you find.
nope didnt start at rear right when purging........ hey i will try that asap..thanks for the info- maybe it will work
my pads should be fine i just replaced then a few weeks ago......

Jack up car. Remove wheels. Start at the corner furthest from the master cylinder (right-rear for most of us). So first rear-right, then the rear-left, then front-right, and last front-left because it's the closest to the Brake Master Cylinder. Remove plastic or rubber cap over bleeder valve in caliper. Use box end wrench to loosen bleeder valve.
Use a DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid only, DOT 4 is preferred.
This procedure is to remove air pockets/bubbles from the lines:
1) Pump brake pedal 3 to 5 times and hold pedal down after last pump.
2) Open bleeder valve (fluid and air bubbles should come out and the Brake pedal should go all the way down to the floor)
3) Close bleeder valve
4) Release brake pedal
5) Repeat
(Have an assistant do the brake pedal pumping.)
Keep the brake fluid reservoir from going below the "min" line during this procedure by adding brake fluid after 8 pumps or so.
Both bleeding and flushing the system are often referred to as "bleeding" because the valve on the caliper is called a bleed valve.
Good luck!
