1974 Honda Civic Motor replacement questions
I just recently purchased a 1974 Honda Civic. Unfortunately, only a week after I baught it the number four piston rod broke and sent the piston through the top of the block. Now, I need to replace the motor but, I do not know for sure what years modles to look at for a direct bolt-in match. If anyone has more knowlege on this issue please help. I want to just drop in a different motor so that I can drive it to and from work until I can rebuild the current motor.
Hey, congrat on the buy. Go here, everything you need to know. http://www.1stgencivic.org/wor...x.php
78CITYTURBO,
Thanks for the suggestion. From what i read from other users, I believe that I can swap with any Civic motor made before 1983 without having to much trouble. Now I just need to find one. Any sugestions on where I might start looking?

Engines from the Accords and Preludes also fit. Up to 82 on the Preludes and 83 on the Accords. The most powerful being the 82-83 models. The 82-83 Accord transmission are cable clutch though, and the 82 Preludes are hydraulic clutch, I believe.
BTW, you really shouldn't put your phone number and address in your signature for the whole internet to see. Kind of a bad idea...

Hey thanks for the info. I never would of though about Prelude motors. I have been looking around the area for accord motors but, have ran into many dead ends. BTW, thanks for catching my signature problem. I never noticed it until you said something.
