2000 ls vs. 1999 gsr?
Hey guys, I need some help/advice on what to buy. What would you choose? A 2000 ls with 95k miles on it, real clean, 2 sets of nice wheels, and pretty much stock with some suspension work for less than $5000 or would you buy a 1999 gsr with 120k, nice wheels, type-r lips all around, also pretty much stock for $6000?
Both are the same color and clean. I like both cars, but would I kick myself for not spending the extra 1k for the gsr? Anyone wanna share their opinions?

i'd go w/ the LS- lower mileage, newer yr, n' w/ the xtra grand leftover there's alotta possibilities, cough*forcedinduction*cough lol.. plus, u can probably sell off the xtra set of wheels & have money left over too. but that just me

if he is worried just about an extra thousand,
how the hell will he do forced induction.
get the gsr

it would depend on what you are going to do. If you are just looking for a car to drive around i would go with the gsr, cuz it's better out of the box. If you are just going to be doing alot of work, i would again get a the gsr, cuz the miles really wont matter if your are going to rebuild the motor. And if you are just looking to do alot of cosmetic mods and you don't really car about performance get the ls.
Damn, thanks for the quick replies everyone.
Both cars are clean and look a lot alike, I honestly don't have the time to do much to the car, so I'm really looking for a dependable "nice" car to ride around in when I'm in town. The car will be parked in the garage for 2-3 months at a time, so hopefully I won't have to worry about theft, I hope, haha.
I like the idea of selling the extra wheels which would make the ls an even better deal, but if I got it, would I think to myself everytime I got in it, "damn, I wish I went with the gsr"?
Either way, money-wise, the ls is the best way to go, which is a good thing, but at the same time, the gsr is a good deal too, in my opinion (unless anyone else has a better deal for me.....? haha), so I don't know what to do.
As for going with the ls to use the leftover loot to go forced-induction, I don't have the means to do it at the time (tools and time, really) and I don't really want to have a shop do it for an arm and a leg.

gsr may have more resale value down the road, since it will be parked, it will propably keep the mileage down. keep it clean and youll propably be able to sell it for just as much in a cupple years.
then again, i guess the same iis true for the ls. thats a tough decision.

Get the GSR.
If you don't you'll always wonder..."what if?"
Also, see if the the cars have had their timing belts replaced. It's supposed to be done @ 90K.

GSR probably already has timing belt done, where the LS probably does not, so in reality they'll be about the SAME PRICE when all is said and done! Well, almost. Look at it as you'll only spend an extra $500 for the GSR. I would get the GSR. Better resale because it gots that mad VTEC yo!
Plus oem optional lip kit is a HUGE plus I think, and suspension work (like on the LS) always makes me a little skeptical of the car. $6k is a great deal!

get the gsr you will be much happier, trust me. or you should test drive them both and see what im saying about choosing a gsr over the ls.
I would go with the gsr.. but it depends on who owned the gsr first.. I personally got a high milage (130K) which I normally wouldnt do. but I bought it from the Original Owner who was a 55+ old lady.. Took it to Honda, and they say the car mechanically was mint, So I bought it in a heart beat. if the gsr is owned by a kid, and modded, Id stay away.

unless theyve got written proof from a shop that the timing belt WAS done at a specified mileage... get it done, timing belt is the one item you dont mess aroudn with.

Thanks for all of the advice and opinions. I definitely don't trust the common, "Oh yeah man, the timing belt is good, don't worry about that" without any documentation to back it up, it's better to assume that it hasn't been done.
Here's another choice to mix things up, I'm also looking at a 99 civic si with 35k original miles, clean as hell, fresh paint (engine bay painted too), nice wheels, etc for $6.5.
Right now, if I can pick the civic up, I'm probably going to grab that. Anyone against it?
