Default GSR motor cuts off at 7500 RPM

The motor seems to be running fine but if I try to hit the redline it will just cut off at 7500. Im running a p2t in it, i've changed the plugs and cap/rotor. IAB is wired open. What is causing my car to die at 7500 RPMs.

P2T Does not = P72, which is what you need...

Car is a 00 DX, Motor is a USDM 95, I did the CKF Bypass trick, wired in the Knock sensor and VTEC, No CEL coming up. I plan on getting the p72 (even added the wires to the harness for IAB) but redline on the p2t is still like 8K, but im cutting out at 7500.

The Redline for the P2T is like 8K on a B16, the B18 engine is quite alot different, different rods, pistons, crank, etc etc etc, so the sensors on the engine, are going to be pitching signals from an OBD1 B18C to an ECU programmed for a B16A2, There are gonna be problems.

You make no mention of power loss, or bogging, or leaking, or smoking, so I'm willing to wager its something electronic. "You know the ECU is incorrect, Remove that variable, and then see if the problem continues"

I'm sure he will be happy when his motor pops then. P2T feeds the car less fuel than it needs, causing a lean condition, which can destroy your engine over time, or abruptly unless he is running a stand-alone, or some type of fuel management...

i had the same problem in my 99 civic ex.. i was running a canadian b16a4 w/ a usdm p2t si ecu... i had no vtec cuz i was the ecu didnt read the 2nd plug, i did do the rpm bypass trick from the single blue wire to the distributor which i also had to depin and repin so it;ll work with my stock harness... when everything was completed i had cel for crankshaft sensor and vtec... i was also running pretty rich around 10-15 miles per gallon and redline limited to 7,500...

took my car to a local tuner / import shop (RCREW) and they dis a diagnostic, they told me what was my cel, and tried to figure out the problem, they ran a obd2a jdm p73, cel was off, vtec kicked in at 5,500, and i could rev past 8,000

the problem was that i guess i was running a obd2b ecu with a obd2a motor... i had a obd2a jdm p2t ecu that came with my swap but no harness.. so i bought a jumper obd2b to 2a harness and ran that ecu... no cel lights, vtec kicks in, and redlines at 8,200...

from what i see, your running a obd1 motor with a obd2b ecu, and im pretty sure your using your stock dx harness also... try getting a jumper harness to obd1 and run a chipped p28 or a p72 or p73... running the correct ecu for your motor is the best thing to do... it gives the correct spec as it needs... its just that p28 are tunable... you can chip it wit like skunk2 chips, spoon, mugen or i heard u can run a type r program... hope this was some of help... and also.

i have a p2t ecu im getting rid of... lol obd2b, same one from my story..
