i have a 1996 honda civic ex it a mans tranny. i got the car for free but it has a blown block. i want to know what d type engines i can put into the car other then the d16y7 and d16y8. because i have looked at all the junk yards in town and a few out of town and no one can get me these motors for under $1000. or if any one knows where i can get one for cheaper that would be great. thanks for any help.

as far as the motor goes, it depends on what you wanna do with it
i've owned 3 d-series, d16z6, d16a(jdm), and d15b

my fav so far is the d15b, but if you're planning on boosting, everyone seems to think a non-VTEC motor such as d16a6 is better. but do some research.
