Default pulled my b16....

i pulled the my b16(obd0) out of my crx and swapped the tranny, new clutch, new hasport motor mounts, and shift linkage. Well it started poring rain in the middle of the swap and the whole engine bay got pretty wet... Well we put everything back together and let everything air dry for a day and dried the rest out with q-tips. AND also the hasport mounts made the alternator rub SLIGHTLY.

Well the car runs but sputters (you snap the throttle its fine but hold it at any rpm and it sputters again) and the lights flicker (and gets more serve the more you turn stuff on ex: headlights, radio, ect...) while the car is running. CEL light is on, code 6 (engine coolant temp)

Please any input is appreciated.

**UPDATE** the car died on me today, just its normal sputter then nothing while cruzing down the road. I have fuel pressure.... and the lights are still flickering. OH and it doesnt start on it own anymore. NO SPARK.

my guess for the sputtering would be water in the dizzy cap try taking it off and making sure everything under there is dry. as for your lights i have no clue.

check all your grounds. Also check your (+) connection to your alternator, and your belt tension.

I see how a bad alternator could cause the lighting issue, but what about the sputtering?

Take out the plug wires and dry up any excess water sitting in there with the spark plugs.

an ignition misfire will get worse as RPM increases. If you have no increase in voltage/current, then you will misfire/sputter.

agreed...check your alternator connections. i'd take them off and clean them. ditto on the battery. and make sure the alternator is not rubbing or hitting anything when you rev it. one of these would explain both the sputtering and lights.
do all the dash lights work? is your battery light coming on before you start it and/or while it's running?

i have no power to my distributor (i've tried 3 different dizzys), i have power to the fuel pump and the rest of the car, but not to the distributor. so i dont think i would be the alternator. I've already replaced the main relay an still nothing. The car wont even start.

any one know what the power and ground wires are on a obd0 dizzy?

im so tired of not having a car.

Make sure all the grounds are connected, bash the car so the alternator doesn't rub ( everyone knows that) Make sure your battery and alternator are in perfect shape. The electrical system's in our cars make a world of problems easily remedied by a new battery/alternator.
