Oil change time?
So i get a fresh oil change on my 01 GSR in mid November and then drive it about a week and park it for the winter. It sits in garage until march of this year when I begin to start driving it again. Car still feels great, but just wondering if anyone would recommend getting an oil change anyways.
My car was sitting for 4 months without it even being turned on and when it was time to drive it it was still good and ran smooth. So I say no unless the oil got dirty sitting there
i read in a post on HT that ist good to change your oil after its been sitting for a while. Althought you haven't been driving the car the oil still breaks down. I'm getting ready to get mine out of storage. I changed the oil right before it went in, and i plan on driving it for a tank of gas to get things going and then an oil change. I'm also doing all the other fluids. Might want to check on the brake fluid if you auto-x or hpde, it also breaks down over a winter storage. Enjoy driving, i still have to wait a few more weeks
i think it would be a good idea to change it. oil can collect moisture over long periods of unuse. I belive i read somewhere that while using your car the moisture colected will evaporate out rather quikly but sitting for long periods of time it can build up. I honsetly dont think it would build up that much but it wouldnt hurt. I wouldnt touch the filter though.

I'd say, Don't bother. Oil turns darker color cause of temperature. Moisture does not get into your oil since it is OIL, so if there is moisture present somewhere inside the engine block or head, it will disappear as u start her up. I have never heard that moisture has damaged an engine before, stuff doesn't rust inside anyway.
Take care.
