Default simple tuning

What tuning can be done to a stock ecu to improve performance with very simple bolt-ons. Just I/H/E and a type-R cat on a gsr. I want to make sure the air/fuel is good, and just that the motor is running healthy. Someone told me that adding and removing the extra air would create a rich situation. Can this be corrected? Or is this something that i shouldn't worry about. I'm planning on future mods, somone has suggested a chip for tuning, but i would rather just get the hondata s300 next summer when there have been some internal changes. So is the some room for tuning or what?

Your stock ecu will have no problem making the neccessary corrections on your setup. I wouldnt do anything unless you plan on buying hondata, chrome or neptune.

yes, the ecu will adjust the fuel map based on air intake pressure (map) and o2 sensor readings (plus a few other factors) just as it did with stock components. For your setup the stock ecu will work fine, your upgrades do not require anything more. Not to say you cant pick up a little more power with hondata, and yes the s300 can be programmed for your current setup and then reflashed and tuned for future upgrades. If your ecu is obd2 (1996 and up) then you will need to get a obd1 ecu along with the hondata.
