Suspension question: where to go from here?
I (semi) unwittingly purchased a wheel/tire setup that bumped my 94 accord coupe from H stock to STS, and there is no way I'll be competitive in STS with my stock suspension (I tend to run about 2 seconds off of trophy spots).
So upgrade the suspension, easy enough, right? Well, the issue is that I'm poor. I want to end up running koni yellows with GC springs, which is a lot of money for me to drop on my DD/Auto-Xer.
My question is, if I were to buy this in stages, which would be more advantageous to buy first, dampers or springs? I'm currently leaning towards dampers because I feel like they're more likely to improve my handling than lower springs on stock struts (also worried about blowing out the stock struts before I buy new ones).
For now, I'll stick with what I've got and work on driver skill (I know thats more important that anything else), but I look forward to hearing your suggestions on where to go next. TIA!

if your just going out their for fun, keep going and learning and don't worry about what place you finish. The fact that your driving a 94 accord kinda already lowers your chance for a sts class win.
my suggestion if you want to be competitive find a wheel and tire combo that will allow you to stay in H stock. (where the wheels to wide or tires to wide?) by the way you can run koni yellows in H stock. also look into some better brakes. pads and steel braided lines together with good fluid should do the trick, rotors you can just run any blanks.

cheapest route - buy different tires for your old rims so you can run in H stock.
switch tires for street so you can run the new ones.
$$ for tires < $ for suspension and everything else

what everyone else said. If you want to be competitive get good tires and stay in h-stock. If you are going to run sts don't worry about what place you come in, you're bringing a nascar to an f1 race. And if you're poor just have fun know where you fit in and just try to do good for what you have. someone is always going to have more money than you, and that usually equates to how fast a car potentially is.
