Note sure if this thread will help

Unfortunately, nobody sent pictures

I'm a personal fan of 6x9's, mainly because cheap 6x9's versus cheap 6.5's, the 6x9's still move more air and provide the low end that the front speakers simply can't provide unless you modify the door. Also, many people simply cut the hatch-cover and mount the 6x9's there. This works alright from personal experience (I'm sure it would sound better with the appropriate baffles in place), but nowhere near as nice of an install when mounted in the factory locations (JDM or USDM). If you get the USDM mounts, make sure you get the slotted panel covers as well and baffles for those speakers as they are TRULY in a free-air location.

The CX is so easy to pull apart... I'd rewire that assuming you're not using a stock head unit.... 16 year old 18 gauge is pretty crappy....

I pm'd the guys from the thread you linked me to and asked them if they had any pictures.

I've thought of cutting my rear non-speaker panels out for 6x9s before but the 6x9's were too big for them. How do they get that to work?

That's exactly the problem I had with it... only thing I could think of is if they had 5x7's back there.... but even with that... how the hell do those pieces of plastic stand up to the speakers pounding on them?
