my 88crx build
thought i would finally post up my car as it starts to come together.
some of the specs
ERL gsr bottom with CP's and Carillo's
GSR head with SI valves guts
GT3582R
Tial bov and WG
Aem EMS
and much more.
hope to have it done around the first weekend in may.
don't worry its not for any specific class. I cannot afford to travel to the big events but we have a 1/4 mile IHRA track about twenty minutes away where i've raced regularly for the past 5 years and i will be entering the top et field there this year to hopefully run their points series. won't have much problem maxing out this turbo but the money wasn't there for the 4067R i wanted. we made sure there is enough room to fit a 40r and paired the cylinders so we can run a divided housing.
thanks for lookin in. love reading the honda-tech drag forum. keeps me goin.
couple pics...
here is what the car looks like,(pic shot a couple years ago, then owned by a friend <5thgearburnout>

should have some more pics within the next week. having a couple bars added to the cage. previous owner had a 4067 on a 2.0L ge sleeved ls/v making about 700whp and the car seemed to change door gaps after every pass. hopefully with the added structual components that won't happen. The car is being built by Excessive Autosports here in sioux falls. Joey and dan have done some amazing work and turn out some badass turbo cars.
car has some good old south dakota rust so we decided to cut out the hatch floor and put in some bracing along with a battery relocation and a good spot to mount the fuel pump.

thanks, i've admired this car a lot, and when the chance to pick up the chasis arose i couldn't turn it down. i just hope i can get it to hook up. previous owner went 10.90's at 145mph doing track long burnouts. (he moved on to a ridiculous 42r powered ek coupe)

well its not quite ready...there are soo many little details to address...anyways...the I/C has the tanks on it now...fuel pressure regulator and lines are done. wiring for the sensors to the aem serial gauge as well as the aem wideband and oil press gauges is complete...putting the dash in for the final time i hope tomorrow.
also have the hoses w/ fittings run to and from the I/C tank wiring to the water pump is done..just have to make the floor pieces for the back and figure how to make a seat slider for the kirkey seat as i have never run as heavy of a clutch like a tilton and am not sure where i want the seat for engagement.
my biggest surprise with this build is the amount of money in fittings...with the fuel system, I/C system, oil and vac lines, catch can...i could have a nice set of pro 1 cams..
on a side note...im curious to what the highest hp for a b series on a 35R is?
i know my gsr head is the weakest link in my motor being stock port and gsr cam equipped...the valves, springs, retainers are proven tought customers and i know it will see near 10K revs(providing the power is still up there)
thought it might be something to shoot for later on down the road...

its a 5 gallon...i don't think i've ever seen a 10 gallon for a single core car..it won't see much street time and we have plenty of ice at the track...
any one know of the highest hp 35R b series?

none of the above... i suppose if i ever managed to go to an event it would qualify as a hot rod car(not sure if i have the safety equip) or possibly quick16( if offered and my car was fast enough)
i live too far away from the big events though. i run mod et at our local IHRA track. hopefully i can get to driving this thing before too long. i've been piloting my friends v6...yes v6 camaro for the first couple events. yesterday i managed to set the national record for a street trim v6 camaro with an 11.60@121mph so thats at least kept me going down the 1320.

thought i would update this. i lost the email account for my old sn 1320SmokeShow and couldn't get the password info reset. so i made a new one. the car got put on hold as i lost my job on new years eve. went back to wrenching on cars as well as enlisting in the south dakota national guard. i sold a couple things off the car in anticipation of bigger and better after i get back from training in september.
sold my 35r and injectors to my buddy with the v6 camaro that i race for him. in october i reset the record for street v6 f-body's with an 11.1@128 on a t3 sc61, max'd injectors and a flashed ecu...with my old 35r, a set of 1600's, aem ems, and a trans brake now should put us deep into the 10's with that..
as for my crx. the plans are for a precision 6765 billet turbo. S2p1 cams, 8 ID injectors, and a m&w box (haven't decided what i want yet). and to put on some sort of a 3 piece front end....whoever has them available when i'm ready this coming winter
i was fortunate enough to travel with HT member and friend Jared (5thgearburnout) down to dallas last month to visit Tony @ T1 race development. I learned quite a bit just from the little time i spent down there. Jared's car made some good power with the new motec setup and showed us some area's of improvement for the car. Along with going out and making some 1/8th mile passes That thing is gonna fly. big thanks to tony for his hospitality and answering all my questions. i definitely have an idea of what i can do with my car to make big improvements.
