Quite a bit of help!
Well my friend and i will be starting his civic street car project soon.
He is very limited on a budget. So were going to find a cheap used motor and rebuild it(he wants to keep the stock as a back up). The thing is i haven't been around to junk yards in a while. Looking for a B series or maybe a D. Thing is doesn't a D series have a very low power potential? On top of that he doesn't wanna spend a lil more and get better parts. he wants a good street car that he can play with. Were looking for around 250~ WHP. What would be the outcome if we didnt used forged rods and pistons? I don't think it would be good? I was gonna get a engine rebuild kit, and some low compression pistons(9:1?) Turbo: i was gonna buy parts separate, OR get a ebay turbo kit and replace the turbo with a Garrett/(Place name here).
With the Turbo parts(not including the turbo itself) and Rebuild kit we will have around $1200-$1700.
Please don't flame me. I know i have some newbie questions! Thanks for the help!!!

You could do more to a D with that money than you could for a B. D series **** is dirt cheap, B **** is overpriced. For 250 whp just part together a turbo kit, you could do that for a D series for about 1k. Stock Rods on a D are good to 215 hp but more than that if you get a good tune. Also get ARP headstuds. Don't rebuild the engine until the headgasket blows. Until then save up for forged H beams and a set of Low Comp pistons. With a few other mods you could have it around 300-350 whp. Beyond that HP, you don't really want to drive it around on the street
thanks! What about the crank would the stock one be ok to use? Valves? How much boost could it run on stock internals? Then after its was built? What would be a good compression ratio?(250~ is the goal no more than prolly 350)
