99 Civic EX Fuse Problem...Please Help

hey....soo i have a 99 civic ex....my dash lights went out...like the speedometer and all the ac buttons you know........soo when i drive at night its just pitch black...i changed fuse 30 which is to the lights....it worked for about 30 seconds then went out...changed it again....then when i turned the lights on it wouldnt work with a new fuse....i check it and it was fried.....i put in about 4 different brand new ones and they would keep on frying the second i turn the lights on....my guess is that there is too much electriciy or sumthing??? can some one plz tell me what is causing this??? id really apriciate it b4 i go out and pay for somthing that is simple...

If your fuses keeps popping, its prob a short somehwere as " Creepy116 " stated. Have you moved or did anything lately to your car?... wiring maybe? if u did go back and check for a wire that might be touching the frame. I mean u know what fuse is being blown, so it should be pretty simple finding the problem. Scan the wire that connects to the cluster, and see if there is a break in the wire.

you definately have a short somewhere in that circuit. the fuse is set there as a form of circuit protection. too much current, meaning more than 30A, will blow the fuse preventing the wires in the circuit from frying up. basically so you're car doesn't burn down to the ground. so DO NOT put in a larger fuse! the lamps in the curcuit(dash lights) act as the load in the circuit meaning that voltage drops as it goes through the loads. the short allows current to bypass the loads therefore allowing too much current to flow back through the curcuit to the fuse. that's why you're fuse keeps blowing. look for any pinched wires or any exposed wires mang!
