alrite every1 i think i finally found the perfect engine for my car i found a 2000 jdm b16. it includes the block, head, computer, harness, axels, and shift linkage. the guys wants 800 for it. does this sound like a good deal?

he said that he blew the tranny that he had on it so does that mean that the engine could have been damaged also?

its a jdm b16 and i want to put this in my 1999 honda civic ex what will i need besides the tranny to put this in my car and also what will i have to do to get it in my car?

and how can i turely know if it is a legit jdm b16 or just a regular b16 ??

 

hey guys also i forgot to ask what type of tranny do i need. well to start off i want a b16 tranny with lsd so do i need a hydro tranny or cable tranny? keep in mind its goen in a 1999 honda civic ex with that b16

 

first answer your going to get is Search, really if you look to the top of this civic forum you will see a FAQ page, they have tons of info on B-series into our cars......so really just go through there, search a bit and then come back with any small detailed questions. But im new too, so good luck.

from what youve mentioned im sure there are some wiring issues, youll need mounts, tranny is going to be hydro i believe(but not sure, just trying to give you a quick run down), and any other little needless part to complete the job, id say thats a decent deal as long as the engine hasnt been beat on and its in good shape. Compression test before buy of course. Hopefully some more seasoned honda vets will step in and help, cause you dont come off as someone thats going to search for himself.

to tell if its a jdm b16, on the block it will just have stamped B 16, where as a USDM will have stamped B16A2. also on the head there will be 4 circles above the #4 exaust port that will tell you the date that the head atleast was cast. the transmittion should be a hydro, and you will need some motormounts for the rear of the motor, and not sure what all else, just search the arcives about what all is needed for a B swap, there hould be tons of information, its been covered hundreds of times.
