How does the door lock stay in the door handle?

I believe there is a "C" clip that holds the lock in place. If you look inside your toolbox where the lock meets the cover it should just come off with a pair of pliers

It's actually not held in by anything, that's my problem.
So it has a C clip?
Can anyone confirm this so I dont have to take off my other door panel?
