Dished pistons will lower the compression. You will want to find out who the pistons are made buy and also look on the side of the box, there should be a part number. Call the manf. and give them the part number. They will be able to tell you what the comp. should be.

Dish pistons will lower your compression. If he is unable to tell you what he sent I would return them and get your money back. Buy a set from a reputable company that knows what they are selling.

That is terrible customer service if you ask me. If they try to send you pistons and can't tell you what they sent. I can just imagine what the head looks like... They probably just hogged out the intake ports (maximum port size) and polished the exhaust. With absolutely No race R&D involved at all. Did he give you any flow numbers?

yeah, he did give the number but i'm a newb and didn't pay that much attention. it looks beautiful to my eye, and i've heard a lot of good things about his work. he's just not a customer service guy, and does everything himself, phones included which sucks bad. he has to take the pistons back right?

You don't need to send them back If he says they should be OK, I would still get who ever is putting your engine together to measure the combustion camber & pistons CC's. Check all of the clearances and clay the engine. Spend the money now and Do it right or skip the fine details and pay big later. Double checking your parts is the way you limit your chances of running into any future problems.

Messing around with compression ratios and clearances is how you end up back on here asking questions about why your engine is burning oil or knocking real bad.

Sorry! No time to go into detail so here is a quote with a link to a DIY:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by PirateMcFred 8:16 PM 2/22/2008 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Claying the engine is where you do a mock engine assembly and place bits of modeling clay in strategic locations on the piston domes. Once assembled you carefully turn the engine over through one full cycle. Upon disassembly you can see where the bits of clay have been squished and you can measure the clay's thickness to determine the clearances in the combustion chamber between the piston, the cylinder head and the valves.
