Default H22 Performance Axles

I've been looking all through this site trying to find out what would be the best staged axles for a h22 swapped accord. All i see is to use accord or prelude axles..Please Help?

Prelude axle should be fine. That's what I'm running and Spiker has the same. He's pushing 650+ horse with no problems.

first off what year model do you have. secondly you should use the axles for your year model car. i too have hear of people using prelude axles but they are a little longer and more of a chance for something to go wrong. every swap write up i have seen, all say to use your year model axles. even though some use prelude, its your call.

i have a 96 accord with a 92 jdm h22a, i used the prelude axels, they were thicker and they are the ones intended to run with the h22 transmission. I have heard that they are longer or what not, but i haven't had a chance to put the car on a rack and check for wheel play, i hope to do an extended test ride this coming up weekend and i'll let you know how the lude axles work.

Spiker hasn't broken any Prelude axles that I'm aware of. He has demolished some tranny's though. If you really need some axles made, check Gator Axles out of Florida. They are supposed to be pretty good.

I thought they were out of Cincy, but that's where Gator Glen is origanally from. Yeah, I don't think you should have any problems with stock Prelude axles like Muff was sayin. If Spiker's not breaking them, no way you should be.

Yeah I'm switching to Prelude axles shortly.

I considered Gators for a bit but don't think I need them that badly haha.

if you are breaking axles i suspect there is something else wrong.

Was your car a auto to 5spd conversion?

also are you just dumping the clutch? i have tried to break accord axles with an h22 and nitrous and never had luck.

i agree...oem axles are robust and should handle good amounts of abuse, provided the rest of the car has no pre-existing issues that will put them in an early grave.

i second that. perhaps your driving needs the work, not the axles. stock axles can take a boosted setup. its all in the skill. and if you break and axle, you break and axle. whether is prelude or accord. something in your suspension could be faulty. like i said, i haven't seen any write ups that gives you the option of either or. also are your axles re-manufacturered or brand new.

Spiker is pushing at least 3x the ponies and has no problems at all. Something has to be wrong here.

I have been using Accord Driveshaft Shop Stage 0 for about a year. The prelude design is a little stronger (I beleive the prelude intermediate shaft has a male end, and accord is female). But the prelude is supposidly slightly long and can be a binding issue.

If they were binding they sure as hell wouldnt have lasted as long as they have. Just make sure you go to a Honda recylcler and get OEM asxles. NOT rebuilt, or OEM "replacements"

Trust me.

if you are busting accord axles on stock H22 or anything under 350hp, you got issues

5G prelude axles are too wide and may cause binding

4G prelude axles are a tick too short and require that "washer" or some kind of compensating control (lathed axle nuts, etc.) to get a full seat.

Its not that they are to short..... only that the axle nut threaded area doesnt go down quite far enough (And its BARELY not far down enough).

Like I said, im having 0 issues at all on the same set I started out with.... I run 17-20 PSI on my "low boost" tune... About 575 WHP.... 26PSI (shy side of 640)Has ruined 5 trannys in otherwise good shape, the OEM Prelude axles survived unscathed..... I also had a 300WHP F setup making 305TQ before this one and never broke an axle (Stock Accord).... and that setup was beaten everyday and dailydriven for over a year with 3-22K miles of constant abuse.

Seems something else is going on.
