RSX 1/4 time.....
I'm debating wether or not to get a RSX. I don't know which car would be faster in the long run...TURBO LS, or TURBO RSX (base model) I'm starting off by tryin to find the 1/4 time for the RSX non type S. I chose the non type s becausse of lower compression. Any other info would be greatly appreciated in help with my SEARCH...THANKS!
Well bro I dont want to disapoint you but the base is kind of slow. Best time I have seen out of them from the local owners are 16.3-16.5. But I see where you are going with the base turbo. Lower comp. ratio so you can push more psi. hhmm.. nice. Either way you go remember....BOOOSTTTT!!!! hehee
Someone on clubrsx has a timeslip for 15.6/7 in his stock rsx 5-spd. Claims he could have done better with some practice. Traps were ~88 if I remember correctly.

Read my post. A few others have also hit 15.7's as well. I have a base 5-spd RSX... I haven't taken it to the track yet, but I'll let you know how it goes once I finally get around to it.
yes infact he has a video of the car before it ran. showing the moter the exhaust and the firecrap err stone tires. and it ran a 15.9. Since then it has only been able to do 16 or a 16.1.
http://www.deathdream.net/Civic.mpg the 15.8 run yes it was a 15.8

Yeah, a base rsx could probably give a gsr a good run. Although if I were to put money on it, I'd put it on the gsr.
That's strange because I've driven both the rsx and the gsr, and the gsr felt weak (except for top-end). The rsx has much more low and midrange torque. However, in any drag race though, the top-end is where it's at so that's why I would pick the gsr to win.

That is Hwoody77's car from 7thgencivic, and it has been long debated over whether is car was stock, and a member made it nice and clear that its not too hard to have your nitrous lines and such hidden from the camera. Also you fail to mention the 10 or so pages on there discussing how some of his times on the slip dont match up, as well as when he went back to the track he was pulling low 16's.
why would u buy a brand new car and go put a turbo in it thats piggy-backed and not made for the car. I can see puttin a turbo on a older car because of lack of money but why not go get a WRX or other stock turboed car. It would be more reliable and you'd be able to get more power out of it. Just my two cents.
i like the way the gs-r feels, cause when you drive it normal , even with its lack of low end power it drives like a nice smooth honda....good on gas....and smoooth, but when you get into vtec , and those cam lobes change it turns into a totally different car....the base RSX doesnt have that feeling...it feels the same , onlow end , and high end....its a good comuter....but pretty much just like owning a nicer civic
I think you would get more power out of turboing the RSX-S, even with its high CR. If you got the base, you would still have to make up for that 40hp loss...and no, the LS is not faster than the Base RSX stock vs stock with equal drivers...
The RSX is a bitch to turbo. I only know one person who has and it cost him lots of money to do it.

The base RSX is NOT slower than the older LS model with equal drivers and the RSX responds better to mods as well. LS: 142hp 127ft/lbs RSX: 160hp 143 ft/lbs with a 40 lb weight diff ? C'mon... a typical LS is a mid to low 16 car stock.. the RSX is a high 15, low 16 car.
The base RSX, despite the lower CR, is not a better engine to turbo. The intake manifold is plastic (ick) and the rods are not as strong as the type S rods. The type S is no cake walk either, with over 10:1 CR, I would not turbo that car stock.
**To the guy that asked why turbo a brand new RSX.... have you ever driven a turbo Honda ? That would answer your question.
