I just bought an 88 Civic Hatchback which has the cel on. Is there a way of getting the code out of it so I can fix what ever is causing this?

I was also thinking of putting a 5 speed in it as it has a 4 spd.. Will a 5 spd from an 88 CRX work?

Sorry for all the questions but I am brand new to Honda...

 

For the cel, there is a code list in the faq, Pull the carpet back at the passenger side where your feet usually go and you should see the ecu. you should turn the key on to the run position and the led will start blinking.

The 88 tranny will work fine. If you end up using a 89-91 tranny you will need a different clutch setup.
