I removed the circular side vents outta my 95 del sol. (easy part) But i just wanted to paint the outside ring and not the whole vent. I couldn't separate the two. I know they can be separated cuz i've seen sols with it done. any help? thanks

i just tried twisting them off and it still wouldn't come off...

 

why would you want to paint them? just leave them alone, oem>painted interior. Anyways, if you must insist on painting them. If you cant get the to separate or if it looks like they wont come apart, just tape up the vent.

What color?

 

not completly sure but off the top of my head the vent should just push out. then middle vents you have to take out a clip. dont loose it cause it will never go back together.

i painted mine silver on my last del sol and i liked it wasnt to ricey but still looked ok. on my new so l I just mounted a gauge there and looks alot better might want to try that if you are just looking for flashy

 

There's a layer of weird felt like tape around the entire vent. Peel that off. Then there are tabs that lock the ring to the housing. You'll have to gently pry those up and then rotate the ring. It should slide right out after that.
To put is back together, push, twist, click, done.

Disclaimer: You'll regret it.
