changed clutch, flywheel, & slave cyl 3 mos l8r clutch slipping again
Hey everyone, I have a problem. About 2 years ago I changed my clutch and flywheel because the original owner detroyed the OEM one. After about a year it started slipping again so I changed it again and put a factory flywheel back in, when we were changing it we noticed that the slave cylinder wasnt opening and closing properly so we replaced it also. Problem is after 3 mos it started slipping again after driving for a short while (20 mins or so)
The master cyl is not leaking so I dont think thats the problem and my fluid lvl is fine and hasnt gone anywhere in the 4 mos since.
The car shudders a little when you let the clutch out sometimes, which I thought was a byproduct of my last flywheel (a 14lb) but it is still doing it with a factory.
Anyone have any ideas as to what it would be
Cliffs:
keep changing clutch after slipping, comes back soon thereafter.

What kind of clutches?
It shuttered with the 14lb. Flywheel and also with factory?
Have you replace the pressure plate?

^-- dude ur sig is priceless.
hmm to the OP, i can't see any reason why it would do that if you changed everything out to new clutch/PP/flywheel/MC/SC... can u describe what this slipping feels like?

the master cylinder was changed about 3 years ago, everything else; slave, clutch, press plate, throw out and release bearing were replaced in dec.
only starts slipping if im in stop n go traffic after ten mins of stop n go, I will push the gas n the car doesnt accelerate like it should. I.E. the car doesnt start to move until I get to like 3k rpms. and it will get progressively worse the longer I drive.
I dont appear to have any leaks in the line considering the fluid level is constant.
first clutch I swapped in was a competition stage 2 w/ the 14lb flywheel. I thought the flywheel was the problem because u used to have to gas it more to keep it from stalling.
2nd clutch was an exedy stock replacement w/ a factory flywheel resurfaced. car still shudders a lil off the line with stock flywheel, but not as bad as 14lb.
Going to try bleeding the lines when I get the chance
Any help is appreciated.

no I didnt check the rear main seal or trans seal, what do I look for?
I havent heard of this.
Driving the car tonight, which was only for like 5 mins, when I am at normal speeds the car just feels like its not getting all the power to the ground. Also when I get off the line it takes a lil time to accelerate up to speed.
I still need to find the time to try to bleed the clutch n see if there is air in the line.

If there is a bad enough leak, you should see some trace of a leak coming out between the engine and transmission, If not see if you can see anything through the sight plug.

so the leak is oil from the motor?
I do have an oil leak that is running down the block the car has had that leak since I bought it, 3.5 yrs ago.
How difficult is it to replace those seals if that is the prob?

well, the rear seal is behind the flywheel.
The front main seal is behind the crank pulley.
Maybe there is air in the hydro line? causing the throw out fork to keep pressure on the clutch?
pump the clutch a few times, see what happens.

I think I figured out the problem, and I checked with the mechanic that replaced my clutch in dec, no oil leaks the clutch was bone dry and they made it a point to check both seals when working on the car.
the other day I noticed that there was excessive slack on my throttle wire, so I adjusted it and the car was more responsive off the line, almost normal. so a few minutes later I noticed that when I was pushing the gas pedal my foot was hitting the side of the center console, which it has never done before. So I reached down and grabbed my gas pedal and noticed that it was bent into the console. when I got home I inspected it and found that the two bolts that hold the pedal assembly to the floor were loose (the bottom nut was totally missing) so today I got another nut, tightened both down, and readjusted my throttle cable position under the hood.
The car drives like normal again for the first time in ages, and it doesnt shudder when I take off anymore. I am guessing that the car was shuddering the whole time because the throttle slack was making it difficult for me to release the clutch pedal at the right point and keep from stalling.
Hopefully this is my answer.
