High idle after valve adjustment

Default High idle after valve adjustment

I got a 93 prelude with a stock h23a1 after I did a valve adjustment the Idle is around 1700 I cant figure it out. I cont feel any vacum leaks I adjusted the valves at 0.004 for the intake and 0.006 for the exhaust plus i still A little tapping noise does anyone have any suggestions?? Any would help..Thanks

Are those the specs for the Valves, they seem a little to small. I know its not h22 but those specs are tiny. Anywho, what else have you tried to fix it?

Try to use the adjust idle screw. Or loosen the throtal cabel

the throtal cable has a good amount of slack in it I just put it back together..where is the idle screw?? I'll give that a go.

I got the specs out of the chilton book its 0.004-(0.005) for intake and 0.006-0.007 (0.15-0.19mm)exhaust

the screw is on the TB, top right corner, you can miss it, its the only screw on the TB. clockwise to lower idle

those do seem very small but again if thats what the helms says then thats it.

yeah, the intakes are quite tight on the h23's

make sure to unplug the IACV when adjusting the idle, otherwise you are just wasting time.


check to make sure you didn't bump off a vacuum line first tho..

read your helm's

that idle screw is to set your baseline idle. The IACV will adjust the idle accordingly to compensate for load on engine at idle

Dont touch your idle screw
Intake .006-.007 inches
Exhaust .007-.008 inches
your specs are wrong the same thing happen to me, check this thread out Read everything

DUDE

this is an H23 not an H22

specs are as follows:

intake: .003-.004"
exhaust: .006-.007"


I really think the problem is a vacuum line that has been bumped off

**** i read too fast, i would tell him still check all his clearances, and al vacume hoses before he starts messing with his idle screw
