I actually drove the Mazdaspeed3 last night for my first time! My friend just picked it up last week ... red 2008.5 with 19" flat black Motegi track lights.
IMO, the car is really well put together. The fit and finish is excellent, and it was comfortable and well laid out. Power wise it was very nice, but it torque steered like a **** during straight line acceleration. The powerband was very usable and I didn't find myself downshifting for it all the time. The tranny felt pretty good, but a little disassociated with the drivers input. It almost felt too light feeling for what I wanted.
On the handling front the car performed well, and dug into the corners very nicely. Mind you, I was driving with Azenis 615s. Turn in was fast and you could really feel the LSD coming into play when you pushed it to it's limits. The car did understeer a bit, and you could really feel the cars weight handicap during turn in. However, during exit, you mash the throttle, and the car thrusts forward like a mad dog. The only downfall to the handling was quick changes in camber, sharp left to right. The car sort of "bobbleheaded" and didn't seem to recover all that well, yet this could probably be remedied with a set of stiffer springs.
Overall it was a blast to drive and was very comfortable and practical. The stereo was actually pretty killer for a stock setup too! Not that I listened to it for more than a second. It's fast, but not STI fast like some mazda guys are making it out to be ... an STI or EVO would still rape this car.
Well, that turned into a review ..... sorry!
Great purchase! Have fun

Well, really i also would never buy a mazda other than the RX8.
but My uncle had one for a Rental car when he totaled his car, andi drove it, It was way to light, I hit 80, and it would be hard to handle. At low speeds handeling isnt that bad, but when you stomp on it, i turns into a wild dog. But the shape, and looks are pretty nice. The interior was rather comfy......... engine was weak, took time to hit 60
