2nd Time is Twice as Great
Recently bought a 2006 Silverstone S2000 with 3800 miles on it when the local dealer put the wrong (read: way low) price on the website as the "Internet Special of the Week". Indeed. This has done a lot to ease the pain of trading in my 2005 GP White S2000 last summer for something with a backseat after my (wonderful) wife decided to ditch the beater SUV and her car for an Odyssey. Can't have a two seater when you only have two vehicles or someone is going to be waiting for a ride if the van breaks down....oh well, all is forgiven and life is good once again.

$23,500
the price they had in their Saturday morning ad insert had it on "Special" for $25,987 marked down from $26,500. It's clean, no nicks, no scratches, no dings, wheels haven't been curbed. Tires are pretty close to no wear, clutch is good (the '05 I had needed a new clutch when I got it with 5200 miles back in Feb '06). I tracked down the original owner of the '06 who took delivery from the same dealer in July 2006 (the dealer left all of his paperwork in the "secret compartment"). Managed to get the tonneau cover from him. He bought it as a weekend cruiser and decided it was a little to raw for his taste. He replaced it with a SLK280. It was a good deal.....

The funny thing is, when I bought my 2005 I was looking at Boxsters, 'Vettes, 350Z's and I stumbled over the S2000. Took it for a test drive and I was sold. Even got the dealer to spring for the clutch replacement since they were selling it as a Certified Pre-Owned (actually closer to pre-thrashed). Same thing this time. Got my bonus for '07, put some aside for the kid's college and went shopping for a new toy. Came real close to getting a Z06 but I didn't want monthly payments. Saw the 2006 S2000 on the web while I was taking time off for March Madness and got the bug again. I can't believe what a well-kept secret these cars are. There are a bunch of them on the road down here in So Fla, but nowhere near as numerous as Miatas, Boxsters, 911 cabs, SLK's and Z3's and 4's. I put 38,000 miles on the last one as my daily driver. This one will have a much easier life....during the week.
