Default Good or bad: d15z1 with HX trans

i've been having lots of problems with my car recently. First my Trans goes, so i bought a 99 HX trans off a friend. Just finished installing it today, and come to find out: my motor is blown now ..

I have a friend that is selling a d15z1, just the motor; no trans, no dizzy, no ecu.

Should i buy this Motor and slap on the HX trans? How will this set-up run? Pros? Cons?

Also if i do end up buying this motor what else will i need for tha swap? Which ECU? Which Dizzy, Etc.

A D15Z1 engine needs a TD42U dizzy and a PO7 ECU. Both of these can be found at an online site I have been told not to mention. Some of the EGR stuff is going to be tougher to scrounge up.

What engine did you have in your 93 DX that blew up? Was it VTEC? Adds to the complexity if you didn't have a VTEC engine before.

you could run the motor setup but I'd recommend tuning it for fuel economy. That Z1 or VX with the vtec-e was a fuel economy motor. Not meant for power. Aside from the other differences, it also runs a 5wire O2 sensor and the wiring is a lil different as well.

Now, on my dx, I have a d15Z1, w/ex trans, p28 and it runs just fine. Cracks vtec louder then any sohc I've ever heard, but still a turd haha. Only thing is, it runs a bit rich on the vtec map which I'll need to tune out.

Make sure to get the right O2 for the ECU. The non-CA P07s require the expensive and scarce 5 wire wideband O2.

Just search for the gearing between the Y5 and Z1. Might be similar, might not since the Y5 made significantly more power.

Or if you just want a car that runs and don't care about anything, do what this guy did.

MPG wars. Lame. But hey you know what, I used to get 30mpg average, then after I got a turbo, I'm seeing 34-37mpg. =D

the car was completely stock, so it had tha D15b7; so no, no v-tec

So will this swap be worth it? I am very very tight on money and as of now its either this swap or selling tha car
