Default exhaust manifold rear heat shield

Is it ok to take the rear heat shield off of the exhaust manifold? I heard that if you take the front one off it will melt the fan but my rear one has rusted through around the bolts and is rattling so I am hoping I can just take it off if it wont screw anything up. Thanks in advance

You'll be fine taking it off.

My brother's 94 GSR has been without front or rear heat shields for over 3 years with no problems.

Where did you hear about the fan melting?....sounds like to me.

it should be fine. many people run race header with no heat shield and nothing ever melted. i myself have a turbo integra and had never had anything close to melting
