Default Prelude Sir Engine

Hi everyone once again i have a few questions... I bought a '92 Prelude (Ba8), it did have a F22b engine in it which blew, so the guy before me bought it and put a h23a2 engine in which has blown now. I Have the car now, i have taken the h23 engine out and im lookin to convert it to a h22a. I have found an engine but its from a '97 5th gen SIR it doesnt come with the gearbox which was an automatic. Im wondering if it will be ok in the 4th gen chassis, plus im wondering if the gearbox from my h23 will be ok with the engine i have a manual gearbox so will i have any problems ? One last thing what can i do about the ECU the SIR is an automatic so would i need to get an ecu out of a manual 5th Gen ?

I have been lookin for answers but found none

Any help would be great cheers guys

So your going to use an OBD2 engine in a 4th gen. Yeah it will bolt in fine. There is an adapter plate for auto engines(I hear) that you can remove. You can use your manual tranny on that H22 and you will need a 5speed manual ECU. there is a way to convert auto ECU.'s to Manual. That info is in the FAQ.s.

You might need an OBD conversion harness though. Not sure.

Yeah i seen a write up about soldering the ecu i dont wanna have to go through all that so i was gonna get a 5 Speed manual ECU would i have to get a OBD2 ECU or did you mean i can use an OBD1 ECU but need to get a harness adapter ?

Well I Can Either Get The Complete Sir Engine From The 97 (exc. Gearbox) or I Can Get Just The H22a Block From A 93 Model But I Dunno If The H23a2 Intake Mani And Ancillaries Will Bolt Onto It.. Does Anyone Know ?

Well for a 97 motor its an OBD2 motor. Youll be putting it an obd1 car. So if use your original wireharness, you should be able to run the motor.

I have a h23 IM and it will not bolt on a h22. You wouldnt want to do that anyway, the ports arent as big as the h22 IM, and it will choke the engine. Now if you were to get it tuned, than mabey it would work.

Yeah I thought the intake mani would be different, Id preffer to find an engine that was complete with everythin i need. Is there any H23 parts that will fit the H22, Like alternator, power steering or the driveshafts by any chance ? the driveshafts looks the same so but i thought id ask

alternator works the same, power steering pumps are the same, but the mounting brackets are different. Driveshafts are the same
