Default running lsd in 88 civic with b16a1 tranny

i am getting a b18a1 swap in my 88 civic with a b16a1 lsd tranny. had 2 questions:

i heard that if you run an lsd in the 88-91 civics you must have an electronic vss, is this true?

also what clutch would i buy? one for a b16a1 right NOT A B18A1? but i heard that you need something from a b18a1 tranny in order for it to work...is this true?

thanks guys!

the b16a came with quite a few cable tranny variants.

s1/j1/y1/ys1

for any of them you buy the clutch/flywheel for a usdm 90 integra and youll be fine.

sometimes theres a gold sticker on the tranny housing that has its code on it if it hasnt rubbed off or fell off.

as for electronic vss i though they all came electronic?

i know my Y1 was.

well i dont have one in my 88 so i guess i got to get a new cluster then...but i didnt think youd have to convert the cluster and vss in order for the swap to work you know? or did only my year not have it?

depends on your definition of "working".

your swap will have an electronic VSS, so you hook it up to ignition, ground and the output wire runs to the speed input of the ecu.

so really all your missing at that point is a way for the driver to know, but its worth noting the car would run fine like that.

any cluster that can read an electric vss would solve that problem. jdm crx clusters have it, and many 92+ do too.

im not sure if theres a cable driven vss compatible with that tranny. maybe try searching on here and see if someones done that.
