rubber grommet on shifter cable?
does anyone know if or where i can get a new rubber grommet for the shifter cable? i lost it while i was at the track....it came right off with the cotter pin, i guess from shifting hard.
so right now at the end of the cable i just have the metal ring. im using a bunch of tape to fill in the ring, then i duct taped (lol) the end of the cable to the shift fork/lever on the tranny. i know this isnt the most reliable fix, but its a temporary one and it got me home.
now if i cant get a new grommet from somewhere or should i make one? i was thinking about taking a regular rubber grommet, taping around the outside to make the diameter big enough to fit into the metal ring, tape or zip tie the grommet into the metal ring to secure it, and then use the regular washer and cotter pin to lock it into place. think that will hold up?
it's circled in red...

i ended up using a couple of washers, then taping them all around the circumference until they fit into the metal ring. then i used the appropriate washer and cotter pin.
