i know this is a pretty common problem but i cant seem to squash it... it idles high then low... i have a b18a with a b18b manifold... which is like 3 vaccum lines and ive done diffrent things of switching them around and it still idles retarded... any body got any ideas... its killing me

 

check the FITV..

check your iacv...

i've had a problem like this b4 a couple time on different cars, if u check all vacuum lines and they are ok...put ur fing over the bypass air holes in the throttle body..most likely its ur fast idle valve in the bottom of the throttle body...but while the car is running put ur finger over one of the holes at a time and if it idles out then thats ur problem!

OKAY... PUT MY THUMB OVER THE bypass air hole and it idled fine... a little high but i can bring that down... so since i think its the fitv what do i have to do replace it or just clean it... or what do i do to get this problem resolved...

 

I PULLED the fitv off last night and found like this blue almost like a ballon shreads in the end of it... so im kind of wondering if thats what would cause my idle to be stupid... if its not... what am i suppose to do by meaning you say "check it" what exactly am i looking for? clean it up... it looks pretty clean inside as it is...
