Y JUST A NOOB JUST STARTED GETTING INTO CARS). About just two weeks ago I recently found out that I have to move from San Jose to Orange County to help my mom out with some business. I started to worry due to the fact that I have seen a lot of posting of integras have been stolen especially in O.C areas. What makes matter worst is that my cousin said that his friend has a really nice hatch STOLEN even with the top of the line alarm! I heard they stole it with a tow truck. H-T members... GIVE ME SOME TIPS AND ADVISES on what I should do to help me to prevent my baby from getting stolen. THANKS H-T.

search for fuel cut off switch. theres plenty of detailed articles about that here.
also ignition kill etc..
parking between cars eliminates the possibilty of being towed.
although this is not a precautionary thing, more of a recovery technique, search for gps phone tracking whatever the hell it is..
basically hardwiring a (prepaid?) cell phone to continuously get power, hide the phone, and some phone providers can locate a cell phone with gps tracking enabled on the phone. (theoretically) although they cannot pinpoint directly where your vehicle will be, the providers can guesstimate the area it is in using cell phone towers.
good luck!

if a thief wants it, theyll get it. 2 months ago my buddies house was broken into because he kept his 07 gsxr750 in there. they ran it right down his front steps and he hasnt seen it since.

Stupiedest saying and far from true. most people would not know a good alarm installed from there own azz. I never had one car stolen from a alarm that I done and I been doing this for 16 years. Read the cause for alarm as mentioned. And stay far away from the phone gps ideal. Waste of time and money. And the crap does not work. I park my cars anywere and I don't worry. And if you had bad luck and decided on towing my cars i would be at were ever you took my car to in about 15 min or following behind you because of real time tracking. read up.

Lo-jack sucks and it takes up to 45 min for you to get a phone call. With a true gps system that made to go into your car like the clifford 210c you get a call withen 30 sec of the alarm going off telling you the location of the car, were the car is traviling and at what speed and if you would like to notify the police that the car was taken with out your consent. Alarm should keep your car from starting period. If not it was not installed right. you get what you pay for. Security is not cheap if done right.
"If a theif wants it he will get it"
I hear this false chant so much. Most of the people saying this never had a good alarm install. I am not talking about circuit city or best buy. And dam sure not all these mom and pops shop. Or these pennsaver ads. 99 % of them are not in the security industry. So they have no credit is spreading this false saying. Read the link and make up your own mind. Don't set yourself up for failure buy beleiveing those words. Or you will be a victim.
Weed thru this and talk to the members with gps. They will let you know how there cars were saved. If you need help i can point you into the right direction.

^ ive never owned a clifford alarm however, ive had a scytek in everyone of my vehicles since the day i bought them. fm transmitted 2 way paging system and proximity sensors. locks and alarms will keep an honest man honest. kill switches, removing the ecus. all of that **** might prevent someone from doing horrid things to a car. last year i did fall victim to theft. they were unable to steal the car for reasons unknown. a laundry list as follows was stolen; Volk CE28N wheels with advan tires, S2S2 cams, ITR VC, UR cam gears, Fluidyne Radiatior, FAL fan, VIS CF hood, CF Spoon wing, Autometer tach, ZSpeed shift ****, Full MSD system, dizzy. this all happened on a busy stretch of road thats frequented by many passerbys.
if a thief wants something. they will infact get it. bottom line. recovering your vehicle is a different story. an alarm is simply a deterent. not a safegaurd.

I don't know why everyone is giving advice. No offense and I am not accusing you, but for him to ask this with so much information already out there giving advice really isn't the smartest thing to do.
We all know you can put kill switches, we all know about clutch pedal locks, we all know about wheel boots, we all know about all the security measures. So why ask? Again, I am not accusing you in particular, but everyone should not be contributing to this.
Theives read all of this. Keep it in mind. It's simple.

sorry but I have to call
and on a busy road. Come on they took the cams out the car
I know when my alarm is going off withen 30 sec by a phone call. and a page from the key chain if i am in range. From the car. I never more then 20 min away from it most time or its locked up or some place safe. I not going to argue with you becuase you really had something half wrong with your alarm if they got to the siren or unplugged the battery and it went quiet. A alarm will not stop a smash and grab. Its not ment to. Leaving a tach on the dash or a laptop in the car is stupied.

Clifford 50.5x two way alarm system with one mile range,- or what ever is the newest system of the time, its good to be a dealer. 2 dei 520t back up batteries, mini sirens in the interior of the car, sirens in the fender of the car mounted and braced to were you can't get to them. All this information is not hard to find. The key to a good alarm system is the install. Most of you guys do not have this. And this is yor down fall. You should see some of the crap I pull out of cars and out of members cars. Telling people what you have does not make a diffrence.

seriously, youre a dick. the fact that things were stolen from me is just wrong to begin with. then for an opnionated ******* like yourself to call me a liar is beyond any human comprehension. im not looking for sympathy nor my parts back. the car was not at my house. for someone like yourself thats been installing alarms for 16 years should know the tricks to get around all of the basic alarm things. (sirens, backup batteries etc....) because you treat your car like your girlfriend/wife is beyond my control. having multiple vehicles puts that out of my ability. and yes, they got the cams. i can dig up the police report if youde like to see it. with a battery operated impact gun it shouldnt take any more than a minute to get the cams out. think what you want, its your opinion.

sorry wrx....but the saying is mostly true that if a thief wants it bad enough, he/ she will eventually get it. Sure, there are those like yourself that have done damned good jobs at alarm installs. Sure...there are places like where I live where a thief will not knowingly go into someone's garage to steal a car. Especially if the owner is perfectly willing to take up the right to enact the "make my day" law. But in other places where teg owners do not have that luxury.....well.....
But don't dismiss that there are those out there that are not as cautious about their car as you are. And you can't fully blame the teg owner for that either. The thief will always share responsibility in that whenever a car is stolen.

This is the reason why I don't do basic alarms, waste of my time and customers money and time a their risk of property loss. And there are ways to make alarms were they can not be bypassed. Sorry if you don't share that veiw. I know security is expensive. I deal with it everyday. I know it might be out your budget with multi cars. Its the same for alot of people. And people starting out with a new cars. There is a company over here that specialize in high end auto security. They charge 3k just to touch your car. And if your was ever stolen with there set up or not found before any damage is done. They will replace your car and pay any fee's and lost items. There track record is 100%. And I have no choice with all the items in my cars.

To an extent, I agree. But only if one is being pessimistic about it to the point where they'll think "well shoot, if they're gonna get it anyway...why bother?". Then yes....you are absolutely correct on the person setting themselves up for failure. Me...I think "Well, if they're gonna try, then...let's get enough layers here that I can afford to do so that it will buy me enough time to put some extra holes in them that they weren't born with."
Yes....I live in a place where they do have the "make my day" law. To be honest, I sincerely hope the day NEVER comes to where I will need to utilize my rights to it. But if push came to shove....sorry thief....you tried to steal the wrong damned car.

#1. first they peep it they look at it walk up to it look for an l.e.d, then thump it checking for a shock censor,
#2. they might leave and come back, or just try and steal it then depending on how they feel about it.
#3. the thief gets into the car in many ways, a flat head screw driver in the windows seal and a little elbow grease they can flex your window enough to get thier arm in and hit the door locks window visors slow them down they want to be quiet so they will try to remove one slowly without cracking it, jiggler key, or just plain smash and climb in.
#4. on a civic under the front bumper they can pull on the hood release cable and pop the hood, and undo the battery before you even notice the alarm went off.
#5. on eg's, ek's, em1,s a gm tire bar and a star skrew driver they can crack your ignition in 20 seconds.
I am doing good and am a great asset to my community now but my advise to everybody reading is this.
#1. get a quick realese steering wheel without the neck poking out, the thief cant steer. if you do have a cheap one visegrips around the neck and they can steer, I have done this.
#2. relocate your battery to the trunk or back, bolt it down and build a small box for it and lock it. if it is in the trunk add a hood pin to your trunk.
#3. add a fuel cut off switch to your fuel pump this way they cant bump start it.
#4. get a clutch club and brake club.
#5. add more than one siren and have a battery back up one in a hard to get to place....my suggestions if you have an eg or ek put a siren under the fuse box and hide the wires behind it, add another siren under the dash, and add another under the front bumper.
#5. to stop it from being flatbedded in your drive way park sidways not only will this stop a tow truck but your car will look cool all stanced out, and allways crank your streeing wheel towards something so if they do strap onto it your car will turn.
#6. get hood lock pins there ugly but they help and there cheap.
#7. have a decoy's, sirens, ecu's, wire up a switch to the headlights so if they do manage to get your car they have a greater chance of getting pulled over with no running lights.
and if you own an 02-04 wrx or sti those are even easier to steal if you own one send me a message and I will tell you how they get stolen, dont even get me started on evos...
