Loud Screeching coming from passenger wheel area??
When i am driving there is a screeching noise that is coming from the passenger wheel side. It starts at about 50Km/hr and it gets louder as i speed up to a VERY loud noise.. Its quite embarrassing lol. I checked the brake pad indicators, and looked to see if the brake shield was rubbing on the rotor and its not, only thing i can really think of is maybe wheel bearing (car has 350 k and dont know when they have been changed) or maybe something to do with the tranny? Anything to help would be awesome so i can start driving my car soon!!!!!
jack up the car and have a friend turn the wheel with the car in neutral while you are under it, with a jackstand of course. that will help to pinpoint where the noise is coming from instead of trying to guess where the noise is from inside at driving speeds.
have you replaced the axle or lower ball joint recently? I would guess its the dust cover on the bearings.
If its dangling loose on the axle, it will make a horrible screeching sometimes that is pitched to your wheel speed.
You can take the hub off the axle, remove the dust cover, then use a punch to put a dimple in the dust ring. That dimple will make it difficult to put back in, but it will stay in and not make noise.
