1998 HONDA ACCORD ONLY STARTS.. Would only start when I would first turn the steering wheel right then left, to "unlock" it. Then I would put key in and it would start. It started doing this about 2 months ago, then it would get worse. Now its not starting at all.
All light are coming on, AC is working, a "GREEN KEY THAT FLASHES" comes on. I don't know what that means?

I bought a new battery last week thinking it would help, but it has not.

Anyone out there know what it is...please!

 

If you have the steering wheel locked that's how the car is supposed to be?

Mine won't start (key won't turn) until I hold the steering wheel away from it's locked position.

Could be:

Bad keys
Bad ECU
Bad main relay
Bad ignition switch <--my guess

etc

 

does your car have a anti theft system that is what your green is i believe it is arming its self and not alowing it to start

 

Yes it has the original anti theft system that it came with. It may be that, I didnt think of that, but it just may be. I am however using the original key, and alarm key chain that it came with.

 

check the fuses

 

Thing is that my key will turn all the way, the lights will come on but it wont start at all now. Before I would be able to play with the steering wheel, and then try again and it would start up. Ignition switch is what I have been told might be wrong here, I am hoping it is nothing too expensive.

 

go to this and to ignition problem and this will tell you how to check your ignition its to long for me to type all that out hope this helps and if it is your ignition go to a wrecking yard and buy it it will be cheaper
