Default How did you decide on an aftermarket exhaust?

I'm in the market for an exhaust, but obviously I want to know what some of the popular ones sound like before I get one. Did you guys get to listen to yours, either through a friend or at a meet or something on the same model, or just buy it based on what you heard/read? I'm in the market for something quality, not a piece of junk. Any recs would also be appreciated.

Btw, I dont have any friends with an aftermarket exhaust on their integra, so it would be tough to listen to one before I buy, thats why I'm asking.

http://www.Kteller.com 2.5" exhaust kit and weld up whatever muffler you want. Personally I wanted a quiet exhaust so I got a 2.5" Magnaflow and a 14" resonator.

funny you ask, I was always a fan of greddy, I love the exhaust note, not too aggressive, but sporty and sounds reallly nice.

So the search began on which greddy I wanted....

This will be your friend...

http://www.youtube.com search the type of exhuast with your car...

example:

integra Greddy sp2

well first of all don't be a dummy and just buy one that sounds best to your liking if your aiming for performance...most ppl don't need anything more than 2.25"-2.38" in diameter

On my last car i looked for performance, so i got a full 2.5 inch T1R sports exhaust, which are now discontinued and super hard to find.

Now on my new GSR, ive decide that i wanted the best performance i can get. Its not my daily driver, and will be fully built soon, so i opted for a T1R 2.5 inch b pipe, mated to a Spoon N1 axleback.

I personally hate the look of the fart can exhaust, and a tilted fart can is even worse. They, imo, look extremely tacky and i try to stay away from them.

I chose the Spoon n1 axleback, because it is very small, looks almost stock, gives good power gains, and sounds amazing.

I chose the t1r b pipe because its 2.5 inch diameter, resonated, and it sounds great when paired up with pretty much anything.

When searching for an exhaust, you should think about what you will be using it for...

a 2.5 inch exhaust would be a little overkill on a stock motor, since there is not enough exhaust flow to make much power. It will lag you in the low end/ midrange due to big diameter piping.

if you plan on keeping the motor stock, or with basic bolt ons, you should get nothing over a 2.38 inch exhaust, to make sure that you utilizing the exhaust flow to your engines benefit.

If you want quiet, then try looking into a chambered type of muffler, along with a couple of resonators on the b pipe. SMSP can custom make a full exhaust for you with one or two resonators and whatever muffler you want from magnaflow.

an off the shelf type of silent exhaust would be an apexi ws2 or a Fujitsubo RM-01A. The price difference between those 2 is HUGE so choose wisely.

If you are planning on building the motor, then i say go anything 2.5 such as T1R, SMSP, or Kteller.

It all really depends on your plans for the car, how much power you want to put down, loudness of the system, Quality, and look of the system. There are many factors that go into choosing an exhaust ( a right one at that), so post up your goals and what you plan on doing with the car, and maybe i can help you further....

i was at a toss up between the greddy sp2 and apexi ws2, about to order the sp2 and found the greddy outlet store on ebay selling DT axle backs new for a hundred bucks. i bought one figuring the 1.91" mid pipe on my GSR was sufficient for an air cleaner and header mod wise. the dt is a trippy little piece that performs well, sounds very similar to the sp2 and is really quiet with the small tube plugged. pull the plug and it's a little more raspy but i'm happy. a 14.9@92.3mph with a K&N filter on the stock tube, edelbrock 47522 header and the greddy DT.

if you want a silent performance exhaust i know the apexi world sport 2 is a good muffler with no loud noise.

if you want a loud performance exhaust i know the apexi n1 is a lud muffler.

and if you want the loudest i say go with buddy club 2.

another exhaust question, i remember going through this with tweak before..uughh. but anyway to answer the question. to be honest, i wanted the apexi n1 and went to youtube and watched some of the different exhaust clips, and i was sold on apexi n1. i suggest going to youtube and watching some and listen to them to decide what you want, and how you want it to sound ect... just remember that not all exhausts are an 85 dollar catback with free shipping, like on ebay.
