The head swap, parts, tuning, installation, etc will be around $1k to $1500 or more depending on where you get parts and who does the labor.

You will need a complete VTEC head, ECU, some oiling parts, and a new headgasket (perferrably OEM unless you're going to boost high or something else crazy). You should also upgrade your rod bolts, and IIRC, head studs. That will cost you between $800-1200 depending on where you get the parts.

The installation itself will be around $300-500....maybe more.

The other B.S. may be another few hundred.

can i expect significant results from this alone? i have a need to be faster than most, not everyone but definantly most. I guess what i am saying is the vtec head swap going to be enough to get a rush or do i need to do more.

what are your goals? "faster than most"? "faster than most pedestrians"? "faster than most porsche carrerra GTs"? "faster than a speeding bullet"?

Cmon.

It will be around 140-150whp right off the bat. It will be about as fast as a GSR. You will be faster than most children on a tricycle.

How fast do you want to go? 12s? 13s? 14s?

A simple LS VTEC setup will run high 14s if you're good. Low to mid 15s if you're regular. high 15s and up if you suck.

If you just want speed in a straight line, boost the stock LS. Blow up, rinse, repeat.

The answer you're looking for, is no. A vtec headswap will not suffice when you already have a craving for power.

Go boost. It's the only option.

OK excellent idea, pretend that you are going to buy some poor sap's car so that you can take it out and pound on it when you really have no interest in buying it? Awesome.

As far as your wife being the only thing that you "Cmon", I guess I am just thankful that you pull out and thus have less of a chance of procreating.

just boost without the vtec. wouldn't i get left at the light by not having the power available before the boost? i realize these are probably questions that a cave man should know but i really don't know.

just put boost to your ls.... it will save you time and money... its pretty bolt on easy to tune and the power gain is def. worth the money.

it all depends on what turbo you decide to get. The faster the turbo spools the earlier youll get power from it. You can have a set up that gets boost before vtec occurs. Boost is the best way to go imo.

yeah if you want a "rush" i would suggest boosting your ls. ls vtec is cool, but the chances of breaking something in the stock bottom end is greater than the end results of an ls vtec. my personal opinion is that its not worth the risk. boost ftw.
